Select ‘Audition’ #

Create a new opportunity, choose ‘Audition’ in the second step. This will enable all features and functionalities that come with an audition. The form below will show different options based on whether you choose an ‘Audition’, ‘Casting’, or ‘Job Call’.

Open or Closed Audition? #

In Step 3, you are asked to choose between an Open or Closed audition. This choice will impact you to invite artists to an audition. Here are our definitions of Open/Closed auditions:

Open Audition: Anyone can register, and all registrants are automatically invited to participate in the audition. An Open Audition doesn’t involve a pre-selection round before the audition itself.

Closed Audition: Anyone can register but you will decide who gets invited via a pre-selection round. The pre-selection functionality allows you and your team to review all applicants and decide who gets invited to the audition and who doesn’t. This is the most common practice in auditions.

Preselection Options #

If you’ve chosen a Closed Audition, meaning you have a pre-selection, you have the option to choose how you would like to review candidates:

Option 1: Swipe & Invite
This option allows you to review, invite, and reject dancers on a rolling basis. When you view an application and click on ‘Invite’ or ‘Reject’, the artists will directly receive a notification with the results. Think of it like a ‘tinder-style’ reviewing system. This function is great for auditions happening in a short timeframe. It’s quick and easy!

Option 2: Sort & Invite

This option allows you to sort all applicants into 3 categories: ‘Invite’, ‘Reject’, and ‘Potential’. You can move candidates from category to category. After you have reviewed all applicants, you can bulk-send the results. Each category triggers a specific message template and all applicants will hear their results at the same time. This option is great for companies organizing large auditions and collaborating with their entire team.

Single Date or Timeslots #

Depending on the size of your audition, you may choose your (invited) applicants to automatically join one date or book a timeslot.

Single Date: for auditions where everybody joins the same first round on the same date at the same time. The date listed here is the starting date of your audition, not the whole audition.

Timeslots: with Timeslots you can create multiple first rounds of an audition. This can be on the same day or even on different days/ locations. Please check out our separate article on Timeslots where we show a few cases of how to utilize them.

General Information #

After you have configured your audition process, you can now start to create the audition call. The audition call is what people see in terms of description, requirements, image, etc. We touch on all these different steps in the ‘Creating An Opportunity’ section.

Up next we are discussing Castings!
